DURING THIS RAMADAN, IN KATARA, HUNDREDS OF CITIZENS WILL CREATE AN OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHY GALLERY, A REAL LIFE INSTAGRAM !
Starting on the 3rd of July, and until the 31st, anonymous citizens will become the stars of an outdoor gallery thanks to their photos. The street art movement Wallpeople wants people to share their creativity on the street and this year 47 cities around the globe participated on the Wallpeople International event. Doha will be the first city in the Gulf to join. In collaboration with Katara, we created a special edition, designed to give colour to this year’s Ramadan.
Photography gives us the ability to focus reality in an instant in a singular and personal way. All of us are photographers, amateurs or not… so all of us are artists, all of us are stars! The exhibition of these little fragments of our lives is an activity usually made in closed spaces or virtually: it’s time to bring it to the street! We want to get back analogic feelings in this digital world: an Instagram in real life.
Ramadan is a period of celebration and reflection, allowing people to value what they have physically and spiritually. In Katara, we will all create a wall full of pictures with the help of all the participants in this Katara’s Ramadan, giving joy and colour to Katara’s walls. We will create an exhibition and at the same time a big piece of art, a mural made by all. An artistic, communitarian and social mural, uniting Katara to the world.
